The Simpsons are an unending source of parody on themes that are well-known or to know, and there are almost always parodies that are very intelligent and modern. In this case they make fun of (but keep respect for) the famous and emblematic painting by Dali: The Persistence of Memory (that surrealistic one with the melting watches).
In The Simpsons: The Persistence of Memory the faces of the inhabitants of Springfield substitute the watches. But the work is so good it looks like the maestro Dali himself could have painted it. Of course, all the faces are there, and if you look carefully you`ll also see Maggie`s dummy, Duff beer, etc.
